Tinnitus is the latin word for ringing, which makes it the suitable term for ear ringing. Ear ringing is a constant buzzing, humming, or whistling sound (described in many other ways by others) in the ears or in the head that can be quite bothersome for the 20% of North Americans who suffer from it. Ear ringing does not come from just one cause and the cause is different from each person that may suffer from ear ringing. The constant ear ringing may come from constant exposure to noisy conditions, such as from your job if you work in construction or at a factory among many other noisy working conditions. Ear ringing may also stem from previous ear damage or disease of the middle ear. This could be enough to drive a person crazy! Relief from ear ringing include being in a place that helps replace the noise with low volumes of another or even white noise machines that keep a slow and steady hum and masks the total quiet of a room at night. There are also many herbs and natural treatments for tinnitus. Here are a few for each category: Herbs: Feverfew, Hawthorne, and Ginkgo Biloba. Vitamins and Minerals: Maganese, Magnesium, bioflaveniods, Potassium and Vitamins A & C Homeopathy: Graphites, Carbo vegetabilis, Coffea Cruda Relief for ear ringing can also stem from new treatments such as electrical stimulation, enzymes, and vibration therapy.
