What is hyperacusis tinnitus? People who suffer from hyperacusis tinnitus are small rare group of sound sensitive individuals in the whole world. They are not born sound sensitive, but develop an intolerance to sound that most likely developed from noise trauma. Common causes include head injury, ear damage from toxins or medication. Some people with hyperacusis tinnitus have such a severe intolerance to sound, that it is difficult and sometimes impossible for them to function in our everyday environment with all its ambient noise. All sounds may be perceived as too loud, although for most patients with hyperacusis tinnitus. There is no specific surgery or medication for hyperacusis tinnitus. Surprisingly there is little or no detectable hearing loss with hyperacusis tinnitus and usually, hearing tests show that the hearing function is normal. Many people with hyperacusis tinnitus can hear way better than those with normal ears. Hyperacusis tinnitus can be treated through simply using earplugs. Tinnitus retraining therapy is a method by which barely audible sound is delivered to the ear for defined periods of time each day. A third approach is the use of a masking device, which looks like a hearing aid, but delivers white noise to the ear. Hyperacusis tinnitus can truly be a living hell. Can you imagine walking through in airport during high season? The sound of Planes taking off, children crying, and the subway train pulling up to take you to your gate. This can truly be painful and annoying to the person that suffers from hyperacusis tinnitus. That’s why doctors suggest they have earplugs with them at all times just in case.
